Sink your line to the deepest depths of the Reel-istic Sea, and return to the surface, catching any fish in your way! Unleash those fish into the air, and snipe them with your trusty harpoon!

Sell those fish to fill your ship to the brim with corals, and use those corals to purchase an assortment of upgrades and equipment from your friendly (and suspiciously fish-like) local shopkeeper!

Take caution, though... you're not the only unstoppable force in these waters.

Is there a variant version of Solar Fish? I've been trying to get it for a week and there is no way.

Is there an item that increases the chance of variants appearing?

Yes there is! There's a 1/25 chance for a Solar Fish to be a variant.

There is a tackle at the end of the game that will make variants much easier to catch (it should make it a 1/6 chance).

I hope you find it soon! Sorry that it's taken so long.

This my favorite game to play and I hope you keep making games with this amount of care, because it shows in every little detail. Please keep up the wonderful work! OwO

Hi - are there as many fruit as fish in the vegi-mode please. Trying to evaluate if this game is worth it, in that mode. And thank you so much for including it, as I'm another one who can't handle the ida of hooking and spearing fish (but still enjoys stuff like Doom ;)

(+1)

Hello!! Yes, there are as many fruit as fish in veggie mode.

Just a heads-up, you may still see references to fish in the dialogue, and the shopkeeper gives you the nickname "Fish Hunter". And also the final boss is a fish.

For the main gameplay, you will see fruits/veggies that replace the fish, and they'll even fill out in your journal as you catch them. Each fish has a fruit/veggie counterpart :)

I hope this answers your question! Let me know if you have any more questions! 💚

Thank you - and best wishes for your upcoming games

Really enjoying the game! Got any hint on where to enter the code that’s hidden in the game?

I'm glad to hear!! 💚

And yes! Try to remember a location that looks similar to the doodle surrounding the code.

Lmk if you need a bigger hint

(+1)

I found the spot, but I'm not seeing any indication that something has happened. Maybe I already activated it once without realizing and nothing happens now? (the spot is an "area" you access when you start the game, right?)

Sounds like you have the right spot! When you input the code, you'll hear a little sound play, but you won't see anything.

After you input the code, try checking your inventory.

At first, I thought this was a little expensive for a Playdate game. However, after playing it for a while I can say it's worth it - such a brilliantly designed and well-made game!

It is cool. A good Ridiculous-Fishing-Clone.

One of my fav playdate games. It looks awesome, plays awesome and is worth every penny!

This is honestly, the perfect playdate game, 10/10.

Amazing balance of humor, catchiness, production values, fun but simple gameplay, perfect to play on train rides for 20 minutes at a time but with an addicting gameplay loop so you always wanna keep coming back, upgrades that are so interesting you want ALL of them instead of 'just but the best thing.'

I also love the approach to the atmosphere of the game; The concept and items and characters are absurd, but it never goes 'haha look how silly this is' and instead goes for a moody atmosphere with chill and tense music.

I admit I was expecting the game to be a joke from the concept, but I was not expecting it to  be this chill and relaxing. Highly recommended.

Awesome game.

One of the few games I finished on Playdate. A lot has to be done right for that to happen. It has to be challenging but not too hard; not have annoying music or sound effects, have a little bit of a story, enough content to keep you coming back… Reel-istic has all that and the music is in fact pretty great :-)

I love how at first you try to catch all the fish to make some money, and later those same fish become obstacles because you want to get to the more valuable fish down below. Great mechanic.

I spent about 2 hours to finish the game, but there is a lot more to collect, definitely worth the price.

The only remark I have is that there are some slowdowns in the game, and during the final boss where timing is important, that could be annoying. Perhaps that could be fixed by not changing scenery during that part.

hint: if you feel you are not progressing: save up for longer line, that lets you fish deeper spots with more pricy fish. Oh and make sure you don’t leave veggie-vision turned on.

Thank you so much for the really kind review! Really happy/relieved to hear that you enjoyed it.

And totally fair remark on the slow downs. I’ll look into optimizing the scenery a bit and see if I can fix that final boss issue you were having!

Have you submitted it to Catalog??

(+1)

I have!! And it’s accepted! No release date for that yet, but I’d expect it to be a few months down the road

One of the best games on the platform. A fishing game done right.

(+5)

oh my cod this game is good

(+3)

One of the funniest, fullest and best games on Playdate. Probably not the fishing game you imagined when first using the crank, but definitely the fishing game your Playdate deserves! This would fit right in alongside the season one games. Plenty of polish and hours of content makes this an easy recommendation!

(+3)

Of-fish-ially one of the best hauls you can get on Playdate for $8! Caught me hook, line and sinker but I'm not cod-plaining. A very plaice-id experience but it soon gets cray-zy when the fish are trying to krill your line on the way up! And the harpooning, it seems like a bass-ic mechanic, but its so satisfying to combo the flying fish. It doesn't get any betta than this!

Best thing since sliced bread!

Congratulations! Another great title for the Playdate!

yes.

The fishing game we all expected to see but never got in the first season! Lovely game ♥️
